AUG 1ST, 2025: THE OUTSIDER ONLINE RELEASE
Exactly one year ago today, The Outsider (the 2024 puppet film I wrote and directed) was sent out into the world, and now it’s free to view on YouTube!
The Outsider has enjoyed a great life in the past year, screening for crowds of appreciative people in film festivals across the US and Canada. Along the way, it gathered so much love, not to mention fan art, nominations and a best-in-festival award. And now, it’s time for you and everyone to see what we’ve done.
On July 5th, 2025, I co-hosted a release party/puppet film night at the iconic Movie Madness Video miniplex theater here in Portland, OR, where my production partner Schneider and I (under the name Pagan Circus) screened The Outsider and my previous short film Night-Gaunts.
We displayed puppets and sets, showed behind-the-scenes stuff, and ran Q&As where we discussed our filmmaking process. Somehow, despite being a new team, we pulled in enough people to fill the theater twice, and then some! Portland really showed up for us, and I’m so grateful for all the support. We answered questions and chatted with everyone for almost three hours. It was the best time!
PAGAN CIRCUS
If you haven’t heard about Pagan Circus yet, we are a new production duo here in Portland, consisting of me and my friend Schneider. We co-produced The Outsider, and then in early 2025 began building the larger puppet worlds we had been developing on paper for years.
We are focused on storytelling via our unique brand of puppet films and shows, and along the way are sharing our process, struggles, philosophy and behind-the-scenes fun in the workshop. And we want you to come along for the ride!
Meet Pagan Circus:
These past couple of years have redefined my creative path, and I thank you for rolling with all of it. However you found me, however you might define my work from your perspective, I want you to know that I’m forever the monster maker, always looking for ways to tell tales of the Sympathetic Monster. The form of my work may change, but the heart is the same.
